Corfu Postcards - set of thirteen cards now only 8 euros including postage and packaging
Born in Corfu to a noble family, Angelos Giallinas (1857-1939) is generally regarded as the island’s foremost watercolour artist, and his paintings, immensely popular during his lifetime, still command high prices. Transparent and full of light, they capture the charm of Corfu.
From 1910 onwards, Giallinas had many of his best-loved views of Corfu printed as postcards - a clever commercial move which netted the artist a good income. Produced at the Aspiotis-ELKA printworks (behind the artist’s town residence, which faces the Esplanade Square), the Giallinas postcards carried the ‘wish you were here’ message out from Corfu to countries throughout Europe. More about the history of Corfu postcards.
Now, thirteen of Giallinas's Corfu postcards have been reprinted in their original form, with the Aspiotis-ELKA stamp on the reverse. The postcard set can be used as attractive notecards (or indeed as postcards!), or can be kept as attractive collectibles. They make an ideal gift for any lover of Corfu.
